Description

This is actually a traditional piece that was retouched in Photoshop. God, it took forever to make it, but it was well worth while. This is my attempt at making a decent realistic looking hand, also.

Tell me what you think it could possibly mean. I'll leave critiques open so it can be judged. eue

Hi there. This is a really mind capturing piece; my attention goes straight to the clawing hand. Then it flows over to the cracking flag as if to say it was breaking and yet at the same time freedom is the one tearing it. It makes me wonder about what it's exact meaning is but then again the meaning of freedom is different for everyone. Though it is a nicely laid out piece and the concept that is behind it. The hand which you so tediously worked on is beautiful too a point when the colors hurt my eyes but i just can't look away from it because it is enchanting. May I suggest though since you are going fro a realistic look, that you show the folds of the flesh in the hand where it joins into the wrist and forearm. And perhaps you might be like me and just get irritated after a while of drawing line after line inside of the piece but it turns out looking lovely. The segments of the fingers where you did do the folding of the skin in the lines and coloring really does look nice and it add to the realistic feel. I understand hands are very hard to draw and this is really nice. You can see the emotion in the positioning of the hand that has energy flowing into it's fingers. I don't know if your aim with the nails if to be pointed like that or if it is for a more natural purpose but a slightly more square tipped or rounded tip would make it more believable.

Overall, this is a great piece, the concept was very original and it presents itself in a way that is open to interpretations while still getting the message through to the audience. Nicely done *sigh* i wash all hands were as easy as emotiocons
